Winter Wonderland Weekend at Camp Wakpominee

Friday, January 4-6, 2019

                                             

Leaving Friday, January 4, 2019 promptly at 4:00pm, from the Great River Fire House. Please arrive by 3:30pm to pack the vehicles. Bring a bag lunch for Friday dinner.
Itinerary  We’ll be staying and sleeping in the dining hall at Camp Wakpominee, Ft. Ann, NY. We’ll be hiking, playing in the snow, and even some sledding, besides! On Saturday, those who wish to go skiing, snowboarding or snow tubing will be able to join a contingent to visit West Mountain in Queensbury, NY - see separate cost list on reverse side of this flyer.
Sunday  After Breakfast, we’ll be heading back home, with an expected arrival time around 2pm
Cost $47.00 per person, which includes the food for the entire weekend, and gas & toll money for the drivers. The lodging fee is being paid for by Troop funds. Persons wishing to ski/snowboard/tube, will need to bring their own additional cash (no checks, please) with them – see the West Mountain cost sheet on the back of this flyer. Helmets mandatory for skiers and snowboarders.
Dress/Packing Class "A" Uniform for Friday and the return trip on Sunday. Bring sleeping bag, camp chair, mess kits, eating utensils, snow boots, snow pants, warm winter jacket, sweatshirt, hat, two pair of winter gloves and two changes of street clothes for Saturday. You will also want, flying saucers, snow mats, or small flat snow sleds (no rail sleds like a flexible flyer).

Ski gear if you’re skiing on Saturday.

Troop policy NO Scouts bring Cell Phones. Adult leaders will have them if needed.

A 1 ½ hour lesson for all abilities to arouse the interests, physical readiness and group participation for their development into skiing or snowboarding.

Approx  money scouts should bring if skiing/snowboarding:

Helmets $8.00 additional and mandatory for Scouts

Scout with skiing experience and owns skis should bring roughly   $50.00 to cover lift ticket

Scout with skiing experience but needs rental skis should bring roughly  $80.00 to cover lift ticket  and equipment

Scout with no experience  should bring roughly  $106.00 to cover rental, helmet, and lift ticket

Scout wishing to go tubing should bring  $30.00 to cover 4 hour tubing

 

We will supply bag lunch for scouts (sandwich, chips, cookies), perhaps $10.00 for snack bar would be appropriate.
